Archery Tag vs paintball: which one should your group choose?

Choose Archery Tag for a mixed group, with children from age 8 or players worried about pain; choose paintball, from age 12, for adrenaline and stronger thrills. Both are played on our private 5-hectare forest site in Bierges (Wavre), 15 minutes from Brussels, and can be combined on the same time slot. What is the difference between Archery Tag and paintball?
Paintball is military-grade adrenaline: markers, paintballs, camouflage, impacts that sting. Archery Tag is the same team-battle spirit, but with bows and rubber-tipped arrows: zero pain, zero stains, and a Robin Hood vibe that wins everyone over.

Does it hurt?
Paintball: a paintball at close range stings, no denying it. The overalls and mask protect you and our instructors enforce safety distances, but the impact is part of the thrill. That is precisely what many players love about it.
Archery Tag: the wide soft rubber tip absorbs the impact. You feel pressure, not pain: no bruise, no mark. If someone in your group is hesitating "because it hurts", Archery Tag removes the objection. We cover it all in “Does Archery Tag hurt?”.
In both activities the full-face safety mask stays on at all times, even between rounds, and our instructors remain on the field from start to finish to referee and adjust the intensity. From what age?
- Archery Tag: from age 8, with softer, kid-sized bows.
- Paintball: from age 12 with standard gear, and from age 8 for birthdays thanks to our dedicated kids' field with reduced-power markers and unlimited paintballs.
For groups with young children or very mixed ages (family reunions, get-togethers), Archery Tag is the easy pick: everyone plays together, from the little ones to the grandparents.

Which sensations, which style of play?
Paintball is about rate of fire: you lay down shots, you pin the other team behind cover, you advance as a squad. Games are fast and intense, and the camouflage immersion is total: especially in the forest, across our 4 fields with their own settings.
Archery Tag is more tactical: every arrow counts, you dodge on sight (arrows travel slower than paintballs, so matrix reflexes are on the table!), and you go for the mid-air catch that brings a teammate back. The rhythm alternates between tense duels and spectacular moments.
How does a session unfold, whichever activity you pick?
The format is identical: 2 hours of play on the BASIC and PRO packages, split into rounds of 15 to 20 minutes with rotations. Expect 5 to 8 rounds spread over 3 or 4 different scenarios: classic elimination, capture the flag, protect the king, battle royale. Every session starts with a safety briefing, and for Archery Tag a shooting initiation is included: within about ten minutes everyone hits their first target, no archery experience required.
Sessions start every hour, from 9 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week, all year round. Online booking is open until 18 hours before your time slot, and a €100 deposit locks in your booking for good. What should you wear for either one?
One single requirement, valid for both activities: closed shoes with good support (sports trainers or walking shoes), the only item that depends on you. Everything else is provided: full-face mask, bow or marker, and for paintball, overalls that shield your clothes. Go for flexible clothing (joggers or leggings rather than tight jeans) and, in wet weather, shoes that can get dirty: the forest floor turns slippery after rain. Can you combine Archery Tag and paintball on the same outing?

Which activity should a first-timer group choose?
Archery Tag: no fear of pain, an archery initiation included, and a game you understand from the first round. It is the activity that gets everyone on board, sporty or not.
Do paintballs stain clothes?
Our paintballs are biodegradable and their paint washes out, and above all we provide overalls that protect your clothes. At Archery Tag the question does not even arise: there is no paint at all.
Which activity is the most physical?
Both of them get you running! Paintball calls for tactical moves in short bursts; Archery Tag alternates sprints (fetching arrows) with dodging. In both cases the pace adapts to the group: our instructors tune the scenarios to your energy.
Which activity should you choose in winter or in the rain?
We play in all reasonable weather, rain and snow included: the forest blocks a good share of the rain, the overalls do the rest at paintball, and for Archery Tag flexible clothes that can get dirty are all you need. In very cold weather Archery Tag keeps a slight edge: play never stops and there is no paintball-on-cold-skin feeling. Only dangerous conditions (thunderstorm, gale, black ice) lead to a free reschedule to another time slot.
Can you book with fewer than 10 players?
Packages are priced for a minimum of 10 players, but groups are welcome from 8 players: at 8 or 9 you pay the equivalent of 10 and the field is privatised for your group, whichever activity you choose. From 15 players prices drop, and in paintball every player gets 100 paintballs free of charge.
