Archery Tag birthday party for kids (ages 8-12): the complete guide
Published on 7 July 2026, updated on 1 September 2026 by the Tag Brussels team
An Archery Tag birthday at Tag Brussels is a package for kids aged 8 to 12 at €30 per child: 2 supervised hours of play on our forest field in Bierges (Wavre), 15 minutes from Brussels, followed by 1 hour of snack time at the forest edge. Robin Hood, the Hunger Games, Zelda: at that age, a bow makes everyone dream, and those two hours make the dream real, pain-free and screen-free. Here is the exact rundown, with our parent-to-parent tips.
From what age, and for how many kids?
The birthday package is designed for ages 8 to 12, from 10 children (the ideal format: 10 to 14, two balanced teams). The gear is made for them: softer bows that are easy to draw, adapted shooting distances and shorter rounds to keep the group's energy up. And the field is reserved for your group: your kids are never mixed with other players.
The arrows carry the same large soft rubber tip as for adults: the impact is a light push, not pain (we explain it in detail in “Does Archery Tag hurt?”).
How does the birthday unfold?
- Welcome (15 min early): arrival at the free car park, gear distribution and a kid-friendly safety briefing.
- Archery initiation: our instructors teach every child to nock, aim and shoot. Within 10 minutes, everyone hits their first target.
- 2 hours of play: capture the flag, protect the king (the king being the birthday child, naturally), short elimination rounds with quick comebacks so nobody waits on the side.
- 1 hour of snack time: tables at the forest edge, you bring the cake and drinks, we handle the rest.
Throughout the birthday, our instructors stay on the field from start to finish: they referee, rebalance the teams mid-game and adjust the intensity to the group. Rounds last 15 to 20 minutes, with breaks to catch your breath and gather arrows; a session runs 5 to 8 rounds across 3 or 4 different scenarios. You can even pick your scenarios, when booking (the “message” field) or during the briefing.
How much does an Archery Tag birthday cost?
The Archery Tag birthday package is €30 per child: 2 supervised hours of play + 1 hour of snack time, so €300 for a group of 10 (€25 per extra child). Everything is included: gear, instructors and game hosting. Only the cake and drinks are up to you. Full details on the prices page.
A useful comparison: an afternoon of laser tag plus fast food often adds up to the same amount, without the forest, without dedicated instructors, and with far fewer epic memories.
What if some kids prefer paintball?
We also run a kids' paintball birthday package on a field dedicated to children, with reduced-power markers and unlimited paintballs (€32/child). Here is how the two packages compare:
| Birthday package (ages 8-12) | Archery Tag | Paintball |
|---|---|---|
| Price per child | €30 (€300 for a group of 10) | €32 (€320 for a group of 10) |
| Field | Dedicated Archery Tag field, in the forest | Dedicated kids' field, reduced power |
| Ammunition | Unlimited arrows (you pick them up) | Unlimited paintballs |
| How an impact feels | A brief push, no mark | Like a light flick |
| Adults playing along | Possible, mention it when booking | No: kids play among themselves |
In both cases, the birthday lasts 3 hours on site: 2 hours of play and 1 hour of snack time in the sheltered area at the forest edge, cake kept dry whatever the weather. For a hesitant group of 8-12 year olds, Archery Tag remains our recommendation: zero apprehension, everyone plays flat out from the first round.
Can parents stay during the birthday party?
Yes, and they are welcome, at no extra cost: you can follow the session from the edge of the field, camera in hand (a mid-air arrow catch makes for memorable shots), or settle down with a coffee while the game runs. A mum-to-be can accompany the group at the edge of the field and attend the briefing without any problem.
Adults who want to play with the kids? At Archery Tag it is possible: mention it when booking and our instructors will balance the teams. We cover everything about spectators and chaperones in our article “Can you come and watch?”.
Our 5 field-tested tips for parents
- Closed shoes are a must (trainers or walking shoes): we provide everything else (bows, arrows and full-face masks).
- Dress for the weather: we play outdoors all year round, and kids love playing in any conditions.
- Invitations: aim for an even number, between 10 and 14 kids, for balanced teams.
- Use the “message” field when booking to announce the birthday and your scenario wishes: our instructors will prepare the session accordingly.
- Book early for Wednesdays and Saturdays: the most requested slots, especially from May to September.
Can you host the Archery Tag birthday at home?
Yes: we bring Archery Tag to you, from 10 players and from age 8. A clear outdoor space is all it takes: a large garden, a meadow or a schoolyard. Our instructor arrives with the bows, the rubber-tipped arrows, the masks and the targets; they mark out the playing field, referee and host the games, and insurance for the activity is included. You provide the space and the players, we do all the rest.
The package is quote-based, free and with no obligation: the price depends on the number of players, the duration and the distance from Bierges (Brussels and the whole of Walloon Brabant are well within range). All the details are on the private events at home page.

Book the birthday partyFrequently asked questions from parents
What happens if it rains on the day?
We play! The forest blocks a good part of the rain: it is often even more fun. Plan for comfortable clothes that can get dirty and a dry change for the ride home. In case of genuinely dangerous weather (storm), we move the session free of charge.
Can we bring a cake and drinks?
Yes, that is the whole idea: the snack hour is planned for your cake, desserts and drinks. Tables and benches are ready at the forest edge.
Can a 7-year-old join the group?
The limit is set at 8 so every child can draw the bow and keep up. Call us to discuss: depending on the child and the group, we sometimes find a solution (king's assistant role, dedicated rounds).
Do accompanying adults pay?
No: parents who stay to watch pay nothing, whether they follow the game from the edge of the field or wait over a coffee. Only the players pay for their spot, and our instructors stay on the field from start to finish, handling the game, the gear and safety.
Do I need to pay a deposit to secure the date?
Yes: a €100 deposit paid online locks in your time slot for good, and the balance is settled on site on the day, based on the final number of children present. Booking happens online, with instant confirmation, up to 18 hours before the slot.
How long does the birthday last in total?
Plan for 3 hours on site: 2 hours of play and 1 hour of snack time, with a welcome about 15 minutes before the game starts for gear and briefing. Sessions start every hour, from 9 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week.
