Archery Tag birthday party for kids (ages 8-12): the complete guide

Robin Hood, the Hunger Games, Zelda: at that age, a bow makes everyone dream. An Archery Tag birthday turns that dream into two hours of play deep in the forest, pain-free and screen-free. Here is how it actually works on our field in Bierges (Wavre), with our parent-to-parent tips.

From what age, and for how many kids?

The birthday package is designed for ages 8 to 12, from 10 children (the ideal format: 10 to 14, two balanced teams). The gear is made for them: softer bows that are easy to draw, kid-sized chest protectors, adapted shooting distances and shorter rounds to keep the group's energy up.

The arrows carry the same large soft rubber tip as for adults: the impact is a light push, not pain.

How does the birthday unfold?

1. Welcome (15 min early): arrival at the free car park, gear distribution and a kid-friendly safety briefing.
2. Archery initiation: our instructors teach every child to nock, aim and shoot. Within 10 minutes, everyone hits their first target.
3. 2 hours of play: capture the flag, protect the king (the king being the birthday child, naturally), short elimination rounds with quick comebacks so nobody waits on the side.
4. 1 hour of snack time: tables at the forest edge, you bring the cake and drinks, we handle the rest.

How much does it cost?

The Archery Tag birthday package is €30 per child: 2 supervised hours of play + 1 hour of snack time, so €300 for a group of 10 (€25 per extra child). Everything is included: gear, instructors, game hosting and insurance. Only the cake and drinks are up to you. Full details on the prices page.

Our 5 field-tested tips for parents

• Closed shoes are a must (trainers or walking shoes): we provide everything else, overalls included.
• Dress for the weather: we play outdoors all year round, and kids love playing in any conditions.
• Invitations: aim for an even number, between 10 and 14 kids, for balanced teams.
• Parents can stay: at the edge of the field for photos, or around a coffee during the session.
• Book early for Wednesdays and Saturdays: the most requested slots, especially from May to September.

What if some kids prefer paintball?

We also run a kids' paintball birthday package on a field dedicated to children, with reduced-power markers and unlimited paintballs (€32/child). For a hesitant group of 8-12 year olds, Archery Tag remains our recommendation: zero apprehension, everyone plays flat out from the first round.
