School trips and youth groups: educational Archery Tag

From what age, and up to how many pupils?

From age 8 (3rd year of primary) with softer bows, up to final-year pupils and the oldest members of youth movements: the activity adjusts to age through team size, the chosen scenarios and the pace of the rounds. Our bows have a draw weight deliberately limited to around 12 kg, easy to pull even at age 8, and no archery experience is required.

What does the outing look like on site?

Sessions start every hour, from 9 am to 6 pm, 7 days a week. On arrival, the welcome and gearing up happen before the playing time begins: the session opens with a safety briefing, followed by a shooting initiation (stance, nocking, aiming, release). Within about ten minutes, every youngster hits a first target.

Then come 2 hours of play in rounds of 15 to 20 minutes, that is 5 to 8 rounds spread over 3 or 4 different scenarios: classic elimination, capture the flag, protect the king. Our instructors balance the teams before every round and adapt the intensity to the group; the breaks are there to catch your breath and collect the arrows.

Which format for which group size?

A primary class, two secondary classes or a full scout unit are not organised the same way. The table below sums up the formats that work best on our site; from 20 youngsters, combining both activities on the same slot is the go-to formula for school trips.

Is Archery Tag safe for a class?

The question every school asks first, so here are the facts: full-face mask mandatory at all times for every youngster, minimum shooting distance of 5 to 7 metres, straight shots only, systematic briefing, and instructors on the field from start to finish to referee and step in. Arrows are supplied and checked by us; personal equipment never enters the field.

The main real risk is not the arrow but the ankle: you run in a forest, hence the mandatory closed shoes with good support, the only item that depends on you. How much does an Archery Tag school trip cost?

Our group packages start at €30 per youngster for 2 supervised hours, gear and masks included, with discounted rates from 15 participants; every formula is listed on the prices page. A €100 online deposit locks your slot for good, and the balance is paid on site on the day, based on the final headcount.
